heres a master list of my favorite artists, mix between hip hop, hippie rock, and anything inbetween.
(i’m definitely missing artists so send me a tell if you think theres an artist i missed that deserves to be here. im sure there are a lot and im always down to learn new music)
Atmosphere: literally every song hes ever made, amazing storytelling, you cant imagine how much fun we’re having and lucy ford are his best albums.
Macklemore: again, every song hes ever made. hold your head up is my favorite song of all time, the end, vipassana, as soon as i wake up, inhale deep, contradiction, i said hey, i would keep on listing but it would take forever, look him up, seriously, Mack deserves every praise possible.
Aesop Rock: obviously daylight and none shall pass. the harbor is yours is amazing as is citronella and dark heart news, i’ll be ok is insane. check out his new group called hail mary mallon, they are dope as fuck.
Asher Roth: “OH MY GOD HES MAINSTREAM”, hes also extremely talented, look up his dream by asher and tell me thats not a dope song.
The Band Eclypse: bunch of young kids from CT repping hard. break the sky is awesome.
Bliss N Eso: AUSTRAILIAN HIP HOP IS TAKING OVER: these guys are amazing, the sea is rising is one of my top 5 favorite songs of all time, but there are very few songs i dont like by them, eso is extremely talented, mad props.
Blue Scholars: Seattle hip hop at its finest, sagaba, wounded eyes, and no rest for the weary are amazing songs, sabzi is an incredible producer.
Brother Ali: rather large albino rapper, also has been following islam for 15 years. really impressive rapper, blah blah blah, dorian, and of course forest whitaker are great songs.
Chicharones: mexican rappers, look up guys like me and little by little
Classified: canadian rapper and producer, all about you is a song that has changed my life for sure, his new album (Handshakes and middle fingers) just dropped and its fucking incredible. much props to this guy.
Common Market: seattle hip hop, sabzi drops insane beats while RA scion melts your face with incredible flow. tobacco road, brasso, connect four, gol’ dust, crucible, certitude, swell and escaping arkham are just a start, look up everything they have made. you wont regret it.
Cunninlynguists: pretty well known so i wont explain, lynguistics and 616 rewind are insane. extremely talented.
Deltron 3030: staple in hip hop, del the funky homosapian is an amazing rapper, look up everything he has.
Dessa: one of the few female rappers i truly respect. childrens work, go home, crew, alibi and the bullpen are awesome, doomtree is an awesome label.
The Dirty Heads: check them out, stand tall, lay me down, and believe are awesome songs. its like sublime with more hip hop roots.
Eminem: Biterphobia and infinite, look them up.
Eyedea & Abilities: RIP. hands down greatest off the head rapper there has ever been. look up now, paradise, smile, forgive me for my synapses (follow it with this story). mikey will be missed, look up everything they have ever made.
Felt: SLUG MURS AND AESOP enough said. look up everything.
Gang Starr: enough said. staple hip hop for sure.
Grieves: him and budo rock it. i like everything he puts out, i ate your soul is my favorite but theres so much thats great about Grieves, look up everything.
The Grouch: part of the living legends, look up comin up, breath, and all of his old albums. truly amazing.
Heiruspecs: Heartsprings. look up this song now. top 5 favorite of all time
Hilltop Hoods: great austrailian rap: clown prince, chase that feeling and the nosebleed section. look them up
Immortal Technique: staple hip hop, a legend. look up everything
Jay Electronica: look up exhibit C and eternal sunshine for the spotless mind. incredible rapper.
Jurassic 5: old 90’s rap high fidelity, i am somebody, whats golden, concrete schoolyard, thin line and work it out. look it up now
Kinetics & One Love: frat rap, but graduation song and sign language are amazing songs.
Living legends: another day (top 5 favorite), moving at the speed of life, remember who you are, and every off shoot of the living legends there ever was (grouch and eligh, three melancholy gypsys, etc.) i swear by this group.
Lotus: i’m not even sure what to call these guys, electric jammy but they are fucking nasty, one of the greatest in their genre, i adore lotus. check them out.
Lupe Fiasco: “OH MY GOD HIS MAINSTREAM” shut up, look up fighters and tell me that isnt great rap.
Murs: acronym for making underground real (or raw) shit. part of living legends,goofy dude and an incredible rapper. look up everything hes dropped.
Nappy Roots: southern rap, how i do, the people, winner take all are amazing songs.
Oncue: frat rap from CT, goes to hofstra, crashing down is a nasty song.
Prolyphic & Reanimator: look up sleeping dogs lie and playing with old flames. amazing hip hop songs.
Ryan Montebleau Band: saw them at wormtown, the man has an incredible voice and the instrumentals are glorius. love these guys.
RubbleBucket: groovy jam band from UVM, female singer whos also crazy with a sax. came out of a lady, landing and triangular daisies are awesome songs.
Slug (by himself): look up savior, edie brikell and on my side, DOPEEEEEE
Sweatshop Union: Canadian political rap, look up radio edit, truman show, stolen memories, and the thing about it. dope as fuck.
Swollen members: also canadian, put me on is incredible, as is black magic and deep end.
Umphrey’s Mcgee: these guys are so good, ive seen them live twice, really jammy with incredible players, i give huge amounts of props to Umphreys.
Knowmads: dope seattle group, look up the river runs deep, girl, saturdayzed, dream, human beings, and dead man walking. look them all up now.
Jimkata: poppy hippy rock, look up one to ten and feed.
Zack Deputy: one dude, loops rapping, singing, guitar, small percussion, and beatboxing on stage and makes crazy songs. such fun shows, great music in general.
